Question:
Answer:
Firstly, the word “Trinity” doesn’t occur anywhere in the Bible, as you said. It means “The Three”, and refers to the Godhead, and Christians use it because it describes the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which appear in many passages in the Bible together. There are only two passages that use the word “Godhead”. Trinity is equivalent to Godhead.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
Colossians 2: 9 & 10 9 For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Your mind seems to be make up that the Holy Spirit is a force, not a Being, which is a pity, because Jesus had something to say about that.
Matthew 12 31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
In my humble opinion, you cannot blaspheme against a force, but a person, a God Person. But once again, you have been given the power of free choice by God, so you have to make a choice, and live with the consequences.
Secondly, you say that Jesus Christ isn’t God. Let us look at John 1.
John 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Word that is spoken about in the passage above, is obviously Jesus, as we can confirm by looking at verse 14. But you probably have an answer for that too, but I have a question for you. If Jesus is not God, how is it that He created everything? It is not only verse 3 above that says that, but also some other passages. I am sure that no-one but God can create by speaking things into existence.
Colossians 1 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
Hebrews 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
1 Corinthians 8: 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
Psalm 33 6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them
by the breath of His mouth. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
I think that we have discussed this matter as far as we can take it. You will never convince me that the Godhead, the Trinity, the God Family, does not exist. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are God individually, and God together. I don’t only believe it, but I know it in my heart, so you cannot change me.
If you feel the same about your points of view, as you have put them to me, then good luck to you. I feel sorry for you, because the Holy Spirit is the one who seals you for salvation, and if you say that He is merely a force, then what is your salvation depending on? A Saviour who you say isn’t God?
Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
I will continue to pray for you, as you make your choice. God bless!
