Question:
Answer:
2 Corinthians 6 14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellow-ship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
As Christians, we are concerned that everyone on earth should get to know God and follow Him. That was what Jesus told us to do. Your girlfriend’s greatest wish is for you to become a Christian as well, and she will always be praying for that to happen. If you are to get married, what you both believe will always be a problem between you. I know, because I grew up in a home like that; my father was not interested in Christianity, and it caused many conflicts. This verse is a warning to Christians to be careful, because there will always be a pull towards the pagan side. You say that you will not try and convert her, but that is nonsense. Every person tries to convince their friends, family and partners to become what they believe in. She will try to convert you, and it will lead to an unhappy marriage. God is trying to prevent that, which is why the verse is in the Bible. It does not say that you should never marry a non-Christian, but that you should be aware that your marriage will be full of problems.
I hope that this makes sense. God bless!
