Question:

Does God punish when people don’t go to church in a really bad way like taking away privilege.

Answer:

You obviously don’t know God! God is not into punishment, but into love. He does not want anyone to lose out on eternal life, but has made us all with the power of free choice, so we have to choose what we want to do. Our choices determine whether we do go to heaven with Him or not. God has an umbrella of protection for all of us who choose Him, but when we walk away from Him, away from His protection, the devil has a free shot. Bad things come from the devil, not God. God gives the good things, and ultimately will give us eternal life, a perfect, sinless, life with Him, if we give our lives to Him completely. If you don’t even pray every day, you have no relationship with Him, so you have chosen to do your own thing. You cannot accuse God of punishing you, if you have chosen to be closer to the devil than to God.

1 John 4:8   He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

John 17:23 (NLT)   I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them (you and me) as much as you love me.”

James 1:17   Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Ezekiel 33:11   Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’

1 Timothy 2     For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

John 10:10   The thief (the devil) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundant-ly.”

1 Peter 5:8   Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

James 4:7   Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Psalm 91:2   I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”

If you really want God to be number one in your life, you have to make time for Him. He wants you to have a close personal relationship with Him, so He can get to know you, and you can get to know what He is truly like. That takes time, every day. Time to pray and open up your heart to Him, not the Lord’s prayer, but real from-the-heart talking. And then you have to allow Him to speak to you, from His Word, the Bible. Anyone knows that if you are really interested in a relationship, you will spend time to make it grow, and the same thing goes for God. Get up earlier, spend time with Him, get to know Him, and your life will change. That is what God wants, not to have you believe that He is punishing you for not being serious about Him! Get serious about Him and see what He can do in your life.

I hope that this makes sense to you. God bless as you move as close to God as you can!
