Question:

I was a Muslim but I rejected it because Jesus christ the son of man is the way. I want to get baptized but I’m not 18 years old and it does not work without the confirmation from the parents. My parents are also Muslims and when they hear that I want to get baptized I’m out of the house or I’m getting beaten up. Now my question is is it a sin?
Thanks for your attention and God bless you my brother Please I need your help what shall I do?

Answer:

The big thing that you have to realise, is that God loves you with all of His heart, He’s absolutely crazy about you! And what’s more, He knows you inside out, and all about your circumstances, and He takes it all into account. God wants you to be with Him for eternity, and He is doing all He can to get you there. Jesus paid for your sins on the cross, and you get salvation and eternal life for free!

You may not think so, but God is not dogmatic about baptism, and knows your feelings on the matter. I know of many people who made the decision to give their lives to God, but could not get baptized before they died. My own father is one of these, and so is the thief on the cross. Your baptism is a public declaration to one and all, that you have turned over your life to God, and that you are dying to sin and your old life (going down into the water), and being resurrected into new life (coming up out of the water). But if circumstances stop you from being able to do this now, God understands. You can still, in the way you live your life, show that you have given your life to God, even though you are not baptized. And God saves you right at the point that you make the decision to follow Him, not at the point of baptism. Let’s look at some verses.

John 5:24   “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

1 Timothy 2     For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviorwho desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Peter 3:9   The Lord is … not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

I think that you should continue to pray that God will allow you to get baptized when it is right according to His timetable, and not your family’s. But don’t fret about it, leave it in God’s hands and let His will be done. Don’t be anxious about it. God is your Friend, your Heavenly Father, and wants only the best for you!

Philippians 4     Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Jeremiah 31:3   The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

Hebrews 13:5   ... For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Remember, your relationship with God is very important, so pray constantly and open your heart to Him. And read your Bible so He can get a chance to talk to you through His Word. Rest assured that you are precious in God’s sight, baptized or not, and He will never let you down! God bless as you keep up your relationship with Him!
