Question:

Can you please explain to me John 3:30?

Answer:

John 3:30   He must increase, but I must decrease.

These were the words spoken by John the Baptist, when his followers were slowly but surely moving on to follow Jesus. John knew that Jesus was the Messiah, the Christ, and that God had sent John to make the people ready for Jesus and His ministry. Now that was happening, and John knew that his work was almost done. He was humble enough to not feel bad that his followers were all becoming Christ’s followers, because he himself was a follower of Jesus. He was saying that his work was almost over, and that Jesus’ work was getting more and more important, as it should be.

These words should also be spoken by each one of us. When we give our lives to God, we need to say, Your will be done, You increase in my life, and let me decrease. Without this humility, we cannot be followers of Jesus. I trust that this makes sense.

God bless!
