Question:

I sin but I wanna get straight with God, when I say I’m not gonna sin I sin but then after I feel bad, everytime God helps me something else pops up I feel annoyed at myself because I want to be with God but it’s like I’m holding my own self back

Answer:

Is God really number One in your life? Do you spend quality time with Him every day, praying and reading your Bible? Does the time you spend with Him compare with the time you spend on your computer? If you could not answer yes to all three questions, then you have your problem sorted, which is a lack of relationship with God. If you want to live a real Christian life, you have to decide to give your whole like to God, and then get to know Him properly, by spending time with Him every morning before you start your day. I know that you will say that you don’t have an extra hour in your day for God, but all you have to do is go to bed an hour earlier, and get up an hour earlier. Spend that time with Him, opening your heart to Him, not just asking and asking, but telling Him all about yourself, your sins, dreams, fears, struggles, everything about you. Make Him your Friend, because that is what He wants to be. And then let Him tell you all about Himself, by reading His Word, the Bible. Ask Him to show you in the Bible what He is really like. This is the start of a close personal relation-ship. If you don’t know God intimately, your problems will always be there, and your Christian life will be painful. Only as you get to know Him well, and realise how much He loves you, what He has done for you, and what He still wants to do for you, will your life be relevant and enjoyable.

Many people try to live part of their lives like Christians, and the other part like the rest of the world. This never works, it is all or nothing. Either seek God with all your heart, or forget about Him and enjoy the world while you can. But 50/50 Christianity does not work, and God hates it. He calls it being lukewarm, and it makes Him sick. Look at what He says.

Revelation 3     15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.  Therefore be zealous and repent.20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”

John 17:3   And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

Forget about your sins, and concentrate on God. As you get to know Him, He will slowly but surely make your sins disappear, and when you look back after a year in your relationship with Him, you won’t recognize yourself. You cannot change yourself, only God can do that. And He wants to! God is waiting for you to fully surrender your life to Him. God bless as you grow your relationship with Him!
