Question:

There’s this girl and I really like her but she’s a non-believer and I just wanted to know if it’s a sin and if God will be upset with me if I’m with her?

Answer:

2 Corinthians 6     14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?

As Christians, we are concerned that everyone on earth should get to know God and follow Him. That was what Jesus told us to do. Your girlfriend will always be number one in your prayers, for God to change her heart as well, so that you will both believe the same. If you are to get married, and she does not change, what you both believe will always be a problem between you. I know, because I grew up in a home like that; my father was not interested in Christianity, and it caused many conflicts. This verse is a warning to Christians to be careful, because there will always be a pull towards the unbelieving side. Every person tries to convince their friends, family and partners to become what they believe in. You will try to convert her, and it will lead to an unhappy marriage if she is not interested. Or, she will eventually persuade you to change your beliefs, which will be a tragedy. God is trying to prevent that, which is why the verse is in the Bible. It does not say that you should never marry a non-Christian, but that you should be aware that your marriage will be full of problems, unless she becomes a Christian too.

I hope that this makes sense. God bless!
