Question:

Does the Bible say that tattooing is prohibited, and what passage of scripture does it come from?

Answer:

Yes, the Bible is against tattooing, or any cutting of markings in the body.  The principle is that God gave you the body you have, and that if you are a Christian your body is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore you should not defile your body with anything that God did not provide.

Leviticus 19: 28     You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.

1 Corinthians 6: 19  Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

God bless as you study these passages of Scripture!

1 Corinthians 6: 19

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
